Amazon Expands in Monterrey with Second Fulfillment Center
Amazon Mexico celebrated its continuous growth in Mexico with the inauguration of a new fulfillment center in Monterrey. This marks the company’s 2nd facility in the region.
Amazon Mexico continues to strengthen its presence in the country with the inauguration of a new fulfillment center in Monterrey. This facility marks the company’s second center in the region and twelfth nationwide, reflecting an accumulated investment of over $4 billion MXN (approximately $196 million USD) in the area. By expanding its footprint, Amazon reinforces its role as a key player in Mexico’s e-commerce sector.
The new fulfillment center covers 35,860 square meters and has the capacity to store more than 900,000 products. These include large items such as mattresses, bicycles, and kayaks, catering to the diverse needs of its customers. Additionally, the facility will create over 300 direct jobs, significantly contributing to Monterrey’s reputation as a leader in employment opportunities and logistics infrastructure.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Diego Méndez de la Luz, General Director of Operations for Amazon Mexico, highlighted the company’s unwavering commitment to local economic growth. He stated, “This new fulfillment center reaffirms our dedication to creating jobs and boosting the local economy while offering employees a state-of-the-art workplace.” His remarks underscored Amazon’s ongoing efforts to support Mexican entrepreneurs and enhance regional development.
With two fulfillment centers, one sorting facility, and three delivery stations, Amazon has built a robust logistics network in Monterrey. This infrastructure strengthens the region’s position as a hub for e-commerce. Across Mexico, the company operates 12 fulfillment centers and 24 delivery stations, ensuring timely deliveries and meeting the rising demand for online shopping.
