Volvo, the Swedish vehicle manufacturer, has announced a $700 million USD investment to build a new plant in Monterrey, Mexico. This plant will manufacture heavy-duty trucks for the Volvo and Mack brands. By choosing Monterrey, Volvo aims to expand its operations and strengthen its market presence across North and Latin America.

The 160,000-square-meter facility will feature advanced production capabilities, allowing the full assembly and painting of trucks on-site. Vehicles will be completed in-house and distributed to markets in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. Governor Samuel García has praised this investment, calling it one of the most impactful of his administration. The local construction company GP will soon begin building the plant, with operations slated to start in 2026.

Volvo’s investment will create 2,500 direct jobs in the region. This move will significantly boost Monterrey’s economic and labor development. The city’s strategic location and logistical advantages make it an ideal hub for automotive manufacturing and distribution.

Monterrey’s established infrastructure and strategic position have made it the preferred choice for Volvo’s expansion. This $700M USD investment reinforces Monterrey’s role as a vital automotive hub in Mexico, enhancing its reputation on both national and international stages.

With this investment, Volvo is set to strengthen its foothold in the North American market. The new plant will play a crucial role in the company’s global expansion strategy, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and economic growth in the Americas.
