Invest Monterrey Attends Opening of KOTRA Monterrey Office, Strengthening South Korea–Nuevo León Investment Ties
Invest Monterrey participated in the official opening ceremony of the new KOTRA Monterrey office, a milestone that further strengthens trade and investment relations between South Korea and Mexico.
The inauguration of the local office of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) marks a significant step in expanding bilateral economic cooperation and enhancing support mechanisms for Korean companies exploring opportunities in Monterrey and across Mexico.

High-Level Korean and Mexican Authorities in Attendance
The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Kang Kyungsung, President & CEO Global of KOTRA, and Mr. Jiyeob Kim, Regional President for Latin America of KOTRA, whose leadership continues to advance South Korea’s global trade and investment strategy.
Also in attendance were:
– Mr. Choi, Director of KOTRA Monterrey
– Ms. Sanghui Lee, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of South Korea

South Korea Investment in Mexico and Monterrey
South Korea continues to play a strategic role in Mexico’s foreign direct investment (FDI) landscape. From 2006 through 3Q 2025, South Korea has invested USD $12.371 billion in Mexico.
Monterrey remains the leading destination for Korean investment, accumulating:
– USD $3.4 billion historically
– USD $346 million in 3Q 2025 alone
These figures consolidate Monterrey’s position as the top recipient of Korean FDI in the country and reinforce Monterrey’s status as a premier hub for advanced manufacturing, logistics, and industrial expansion.

Strengthening South Korea–Monterrey Collaboration
Invest Monterrey welcomed KOTRA’s new presence in the region and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting South Korean companies through investment facilitation, business integration, and strategic connections within the regional industrial ecosystem.
