Invest Monterrey Roadshow 2026: Global Engagement for Investment Attraction

Invest Monterrey officially launched Roadshow 2026, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen international partnerships and position Monterrey as a leading destination for global investment, innovation, and economic growth.

The launch event brought together more than 120 high-level participants, including state and municipal authorities, representatives from economic development organizations, private-sector leaders, academia, and international stakeholders. Hosted at the Expedition Building of Tecnológico de Monterrey, the forum consolidated its role as a high-level platform for strategic dialogue on the future economic outlook of Monterrey and Mexico.

Roadshow 2026: Preparing Monterrey for a Changing Global Economy

Roadshow 2026 aims to analyze the key challenges and opportunities shaping the regional and national economy, particularly in a global environment defined by geopolitical shifts, evolving trade policies, and accelerating innovation trends.

During the opening session, Héctor Tijerina, Executive Director of Invest Monterrey, welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of collaboration among public, private, and international partners. He acknowledged the participation of representatives from FIFA, the Nuevo León Ministry of Economy, led by Secretary Betsabé Rocha, as well as leaders from key business and economic organizations.

While 2025 proved to be a positive year for the region, Tijerina emphasized that Roadshow 2026 is forward-looking, anticipating a pivotal year marked by geopolitical developments, trade policy adjustments, and innovation-driven opportunities that further strengthen Monterrey’s investment value proposition.

Optimism for 2026 and the Strength of Monterrey’s Investment Ecosystem

In her remarks, Secretary Betsabé Rocha, Minister of Economy of Monterrey, underscored the state’s position as one of Mexico’s most competitive destinations for foreign direct investment, supported by its strong industrial base, skilled workforce, and capacity to generate high-value employment.

She noted that following a complex tariff environment in 2025, economic conditions are expected to improve in 2026, particularly as Monterrey prepares to attract a greater number of strategic projects and international visitors for both business and tourism purposes. Secretary Rocha also highlighted the importance of cross-sector coordination and emphasized the potential of sports tourism, which can generate returns of up to four times the initial investment when supported by scalable public policies.

Global Economic Outlook and Nearshoring Opportunities

A key highlight of the event was the keynote address by Dr. Ernesto Stein, internationally recognized economist, former representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Mexico, and professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey. His presentation, “Mexico’s Outlook in Times of Turbulent Trade Policy,” addressed global and regional economic trends.

Dr. Stein explained that despite recent uncertainty stemming from U.S. trade policy and reciprocal tariffs, global growth expectations have stabilized at approximately 3.3%, with improvements across both advanced and emerging economies. For Mexico, he highlighted moderate but resilient growth, driven largely by net exports, which have helped mitigate recessionary risks.

He also emphasized that nearshoring remains a strategic opportunity, as Mexico continues to gain market share in U.S. imports relative to China, supported by geographic proximity, the USMCA, and increasing industrial sophistication. The evolving tariff environment, he noted, could further accelerate a more inclusive nearshoring cycle, integrating local suppliers—particularly SMEs—into global value chains.

FIFA World Cup 2026: A Catalyst for Long-Term Development

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 on the horizon, Monterrey’s role as a host city was a central topic during Roadshow 2026. Julio Valdés, International Relations representative of the FIFA Organizing Committee, shared updates on logistics and planning, emphasizing that Monterrey aims not only to maximize economic impact but also to create a lasting social, urban, and international legacy.

Planned initiatives such as the FIFA Fan Festival and complementary events are expected to enhance the visitor experience while reinforcing Monterrey’s positioning as a global hub for world-class events.

Infrastructure, Legacy, and Long-Term Vision

Closing the event, Bernardo Bichara, President of the Board of Parque Fundidora and government liaison with FIFA, highlighted the World Cup as a historic opportunity to accelerate long-overdue infrastructure projects. He stressed the importance of long-term planning, strong public-private coordination, and ensuring project continuity beyond 2026 to deliver a lasting legacy for Monterrey.

Invest Monterrey’s Commitment to Investment Promotion

Through Roadshow 2026, Invest Monterrey reaffirms its commitment to fostering strategic dialogue, strengthening international investment ties, and positioning Monterrey as a globally competitive industrial and economic hub. The initiative reinforces the agency’s mission to support informed decision-making, attract high-impact investment, and drive sustainable regional development.
