VEMO Announces $48 Million USD Investment to Accelerate Electromobility in Monterrey

VEMO has announced an investment of approximately $48 million USD (MXN $825 million) to accelerate the development of the electric mobility ecosystem in Monterrey, reinforcing the region’s position as an emerging hub for sustainable mobility and clean transportation solutions in Mexico.

The investment will focus on expanding electric vehicle (EV) adoption, charging infrastructure, and specialized operational facilities, supporting the transition toward more sustainable urban mobility across the metropolitan region.

Expanding Electric Vehicle Access

A central component of the initiative is the deployment of at least 1,000 electric vehicles through financing and leasing programs designed for drivers operating on mobility platforms. Through its VEMO Impulso program, the company aims to facilitate access to EVs by offering leasing schemes with purchase options, helping reduce financial barriers while promoting broader adoption of electric mobility technologies.

Developing Charging Infrastructure

To support the growing EV ecosystem, VEMO will also expand its public charging infrastructure in Monterrey. The plan includes the construction of four fast-charging hubs equipped with 60 chargers, capable of supporting up to 120 simultaneous charging sessions. These hubs are expected to begin operations in 2026 and will play a key role in strengthening charging accessibility across the metropolitan area.

Additionally, the project includes the installation of approximately 270 new charging points between 2026 and early 2027, further enhancing the availability of charging infrastructure for both private users and commercial mobility fleets.

Strengthening the Electric Mobility Ecosystem

As part of the investment, the company will also develop a specialized electric vehicle service center with an area of approximately 1,800 square meters. The facility will have the capacity to service up to 1,500 vehicles per month and will operate with advanced energy storage technology to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

The initiative reflects the growing momentum of sustainable mobility and clean technology investment in Nuevo León, where industrial capabilities, technological innovation, and a skilled workforce continue to attract companies focused on next-generation transportation solutions.

With projects like this, Monterrey continues to strengthen its role as a leading platform for innovation, advanced industry, and sustainable mobility development in Mexico and North America.
