Monterrey is spearheading a regional tourism alliance with six northern states—Coahuila, Tamaulipas, Sonora, Chihuahua, Durango, and Sinaloa—to strengthen the region’s tourism offering in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

During the 2025 Tianguis Turístico, held at the Monterrey pavilion, the regions signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a unified and competitive tourism bloc. The strategic alliance is designed to elevate northern Mexico’s visibility, promote sustainable travel, and attract global visitors through coordinated efforts tied to the World Cup.
