Monterrey continues to strengthen its position as a leading automotive manufacturing and export hub in North America, with vehicle exports from the region growing 6.6% during the first seven months of 2026 compared with the same period last year.
 

According to data from Mexico’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), automotive plants in Nuevo León exported 153,661 vehicles between January and July 2026, up from 144,166 units during the same period in 2025. This represents an additional 9,495 vehicles reaching international markets.
 

The results highlight the strength of Monterrey’s automotive ecosystem and its ability to support high-volume production for global markets while continuing its transition toward electric and next-generation vehicles.
 

Vehicle Exports Continue to Accelerate

 

The growth in exports was particularly strong among light vehicles. Between January and July, light vehicle exports increased 10.3%, rising from 122,407 units in 2025 to 134,986 units in 2026.

July also marked a significant acceleration in export activity. Plants in the region shipped 20,387 vehicles during the month, compared with 17,282 in July 2025, representing an 18% year-over-year increase.
 

These figures demonstrate the continued capacity of Monterrey’s automotive industry to serve international markets and respond to growing demand across North America and beyond.
 

 

Automotive Production Expands Alongside Exports

 

The growth in exports has been accompanied by increased vehicle production.
 

Between January and July 2026, automotive plants in Nuevo León produced 199,854 vehicles, representing a 6.5% increase compared with the same period in 2025. Production in July alone reached 25,914 vehicles, an increase of 23.8% year over year.
 

The combination of rising production and exports reflects the scale and competitiveness of Monterrey’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.
