Flex Announces $1 Billion USD Investment in Mexico to Boost AI and Advanced Manufacturing

Global manufacturing company Flex has announced a $1 billion USD investment in Mexico to expand its capabilities in advanced manufacturing, focusing on the production of equipment for data centers and artificial intelligence (AI).

The investment will be deployed over the next three years across key industrial states including Jalisco, Chihuahua, and Aguascalientes, positioning Mexico as a strategic hub for high-tech manufacturing.

The project is expected to generate more than 5,000 specialized jobs, reflecting the growing demand for highly skilled talent in sectors linked to digital infrastructure and next-generation technologies.

Flex’s expansion marks a significant milestone, as it represents the company’s largest investment in Mexico to date, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the country and its confidence in the local industrial ecosystem.

The new operations will focus on manufacturing complex systems used in data centers—critical infrastructure that supports cloud computing, large-scale data processing, and AI applications. These systems require advanced engineering, testing, and validation processes, further elevating Mexico’s role in high-value manufacturing.

Government officials highlighted that this investment strengthens Mexico’s position among a select group of countries capable of producing advanced technological infrastructure, placing it among the top global players in AI-related manufacturing.

The initiative also aligns with broader global trends, including nearshoring and the rapid expansion of digital technologies, which continue to drive demand for localized, resilient supply chains and advanced production capabilities.

With this investment, Mexico continues to solidify its position as a competitive destination for innovation-driven manufacturing, supporting the growth of emerging industries and strengthening its integration into global technology value chains.
