Monterrey Enters Final Phase for Volvo’s Largest Plant Worldwide

Monterrey is entering the final stage of one of the most important industrial projects in North America as Volvo advances toward the start of operations at what will become the company’s largest manufacturing plant in the world.
 

Located in the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, the new megafactory is expected to begin production of heavy-duty trucks by the end of 2026, reinforcing the region’s position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing, automotive production, and nearshoring investment.
 


 

Volvo’s Mega Plant Advances Toward Operations

 

According to company representatives and state officials, the project has already completed major civil construction phases and is now moving into technical testing and equipment installation for key assembly areas.
 

The facility will span more than 200,000 square meters and will manufacture heavy-duty vehicles under the Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks brands for the North American market.
 

The investment in the project is estimated at approximately $1 billion USD, making it one of the largest automotive and industrial investments currently underway in Mexico.
 


 

Strengthening Monterrey’s Automotive Leadership

 

The arrival of Volvo further strengthens Monterrey’s position as one of the leading automotive and heavy vehicle manufacturing hubs in North America.

The new Volvo facility is expected to support production for markets across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.
