Invest Monterrey was honored to attend the official ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new Presidente InterContinental Monterrey, a $100 million USD investment developed by Grupo Presidente in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts. This milestone marks the high-profile return of the InterContinental brand to northern Mexico after nearly a decade, reflecting Monterrey’s rise as a premier destination for luxury tourism, business travel, and global events.
 

Strategically located in one of the city’s most prominent corridors, the hotel introduces a world-class hospitality experience tailored to executives, international travelers, and large-scale corporate events. The new Presidente InterContinental Monterrey features 293 elegantly designed rooms, 25 premium suites, three signature restaurants, a full-service spa, and state-of-the-art meeting and convention spaces capable of hosting up to 1,500 guests.
 

This investment represents a major boost to Monterrey’s economy and service infrastructure, generating 400 direct jobs and an estimated 1,500 indirect jobs across hospitality, culinary services, events, transportation, and tourism-related industries. The project also contributes to the city’s expanding offering of premium accommodations, essential for supporting Monterrey’s growth as a hub for international business, conferences, and high-level diplomatic activity.
 

During the ceremony, company leaders highlighted the strategic importance of Monterrey for global brands seeking to serve a rapidly expanding business market. The opening reinforces the strong momentum of the region’s tourism and service sectors, driven by sustained economic growth, nearshoring activity, and a rising demand for premium hospitality experiences.
