Private Sector Invests Over $19 Million USD in Urban Mobility Projects in Monterrey Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026

A coalition of more than 80 companies has committed over $19 million USD to urban mobility and infrastructure projects in the refion, as part of preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The investment is part of the “Ponte Nuevo, Ponte Mundial” initiative, a collaborative strategy between the private sector, government, and academic institutions aimed at improving mobility, urban regeneration, and overall city competitiveness.

The initiative now includes 83 participating companies, reflecting strong private sector engagement in enhancing Monterrey’s infrastructure and readiness for one of the world’s largest sporting events.

A significant portion of the investment is directed toward urban mobility solutions, including innovative strategies such as park-and-ride systems, staggered work schedules, and hybrid work models. These measures aim to reduce congestion across key corridors and improve transportation efficiency during the event and beyond.

Beyond mobility, the initiative also supports urban rehabilitation, public space improvements, environmental efforts, and community development programs, creating a broader positive impact on quality of life for residents.

State authorities emphasized that while the World Cup serves as a short-term catalyst, the long-term objective is to create a lasting legacy of infrastructure, coordination, and sustainable urban development in the region.

This public-private collaboration reinforces Monterrey’s capacity to deliver large-scale projects and positions the region as a forward-looking, investment-ready metropolitan hub aligned with global standards in mobility and urban planning.
