Nuevo León’s Ministry of Economy Leads State Consultation Forums Ahead of USMCA Review

The Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León, in coordination with Mexico’s Federal Ministry of Economy, successfully led the State Consultation Forums in Monterrey on October 10 — a crucial step in shaping Mexico’s and the state’s strategic priorities ahead of the upcoming USMCA (T-MEC) review.

Under the leadership of Secretary Betsabé Rocha, the sessions brought together key representatives from government institutions, industrial clusters, business chambers, and academia to evaluate trade performance under the current agreement and propose strategic adjustments. Discussions focused on strengthening regional competitiveness through advances in energy policy, digitalization, sustainability, and SME development, all critical pillars for ensuring Nuevo León’s long-term growth and global competitiveness.

Invest Monterrey, represented by Executive Director Héctor Tijerina, actively participated in the discussions, contributing insights into foreign investment trends, regional strengths, and opportunities to further integrate Nuevo León into North America’s industrial and innovation ecosystem. The agency highlighted the importance of maintaining a stable and open trade environment that encourages collaboration between multinational corporations and local suppliers.

The forums marked an essential milestone in aligning public and private perspectives on trade modernization, regional supply chain integration, and new mechanisms to strengthen the trilateral relationship between Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

As global trade dynamics evolve, Nuevo León reaffirms its role as a key voice in Mexico’s industrial and economic transformation, driving dialogue and collective action to sustain North America’s competitiveness in manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable growth.
