The BSH Home Appliance Group, part of Germany’s Bosch Group, is expanding its global production network with the inauguration of this facility. Located in the Interpuerto Monterrey industrial park in Salinas Victoria, Nuevo León, the plant represents a significant step in Bosch’s North American expansion. This $260 million USD investment will create approximately 1,500 jobs, providing a substantial boost to the region’s economic growth.
Innovative and Sustainable Production
Construction of the 430,000 m² plant began in the summer of 2022. The facility will initially produce 300,000 refrigerator units annually, designed to meet North American standards for innovation and sustainability. Operating with carbon-neutral emissions, the plant utilizes self-generated photovoltaic energy and advanced water-conservation systems.
Strategic Importance of the Plant
The inauguration was attended by key figures, including Dr. Matthias Metz, CEO of Bosch Home Appliances BSH; Jörg Ulrich, Head of Global Production; Michael Neumann, Head of Cooling; Alexander Firsching, Head of Bosch Mexico; and André Piel, Head of BSH Mexico. They emphasized the plant’s strategic importance for global growth.
Dr. Matthias Metz noted, “Our first home appliance factory in Mexico is a crucial milestone to strengthen our market position in North America. Mexico offers ideal conditions for producing innovative and high-performance refrigerators.”
Broad Impact of the New Facility
Alexander Firsching highlighted the broader significance of this opening, stating, “With the start of operations at our 16th site in the country, we now cover all of the company’s business sectors: mobility, industrial technology, energy and building technology, and consumer goods.”
Government Support and Local Impact
The event was also attended by Iván Rivas, Minister of Economy for Nuevo León, and Governor Samuel García. García praised BSH’s commitment to sustainability, employee welfare, and technological advancement. He also noted the plant’s R&D center, designed to foster innovation and support local talent.
