KUKA Robotics Opens US$1 Million Innovation Center in Monterrey
German robotics company KUKA inaugurated its first Innovation and Technology Development Center in Mexico at the Research and Technological Innovation Park (PIIT) in Apodaca, within the Monterrey region. The project represents an investment of US$1 million and is expected to generate 80 jobs, expanding local capabilities in robotics, industrial automation and specialized technical training.

A Space for Applied Industrial Innovation
The new 500-square-meter facility features laboratories and robotic systems for developing solutions in artificial intelligence, industrial welding, mobile robotics and advanced automation. These resources provide a setting to connect technological development with practical manufacturing applications.
The center gives engineers and industry professionals access to equipment and technical knowledge relevant to increasingly automated production environments. Its activities will support the development of solutions that combine robotics with the operating requirements of industrial companies.

Located within the PIIT, the facility adds to Monterrey’s infrastructure for research and technological development. Its focus brings together experimentation, technical support and hands-on learning, helping connect new technologies with their application in industrial processes.
Collaboration with UANL Expands Training Opportunities
Developed in collaboration with the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), the center will support research, specialized talent development and industry-oriented projects. The partnership connects academic capabilities with KUKA’s experience in industrial robotics and automation.
KUKA currently trains approximately 550 engineers annually in Mexico and expects the new facility to double that capacity. Expanded access to training will allow more professionals to develop the skills needed to implement and work with robotic systems across different industrial settings.

Thirty Years of Operations in Mexico
The inauguration also marks KUKA’s 30th anniversary in Mexico. The new center adds a technological development and training space to the company’s presence in the country, reinforcing its engagement with industrial customers and educational institutions.
For Monterrey, the investment strengthens the connection between advanced manufacturing and talent development. By combining applied research, access to robotic equipment and technical education, the center supports the capabilities companies need as they introduce more sophisticated technologies into their operations.
